Yoga instructor and actress Tricia McCauley was headed to a holiday party with fellow members of the theater district on Christmas afternoon when she simply vanished. Her Facebook post let everyone know that she was on her way. This was the last that was heard from McCauley. When she missed her flight Monday morning for a visit with family authorities were contacted and the search began.
The voice—over and actress’ family set up a Facebook page to help with search efforts. There was no sign of 46-year old McCauley in her Bloomingdale neighborhood and calls went unanswered. Her car, however, was spotted. 29-year old Adrian Duane Johnson unnamed man was seen driving her white Toyota Scion IQ and authorities approached him in a local drug store. The search ended when he handed over the keys and officers found her body in the vehicle. No cause of death has been released. At this time it appears she was the victim of a carjacking. The suspect is also being investigated for a robbery and attack on store personnel. Johnson is facing fist-degree murder charges. His rap sheet is extensive and was ordered to undergo GPS monitoring but was not wearing a monitoring device when he was taken into custody.
Brian McCauley, the victim’s brother, posted on Facebook Tuesday, “Tricia is gone, they have found her body. Thank you for all your work, support and love. To all of her D.C. family, I know she truly thought of you that way, thank you for being there for her all of these years. Hang on to each other.” Friend Kate Debelack says of McCauley, “She is one of the kindest and most gentle people that I know.” McCauley appeared in the films “The Paper Girl”, “Step Up”, and “Never Dream: The Beginning”. She also worked as an herbalist and farmer.
